2004-09-17 - 12:50 p.m. - i gave my computer to goodwill. it was the first computer i ever had. my grandmother bought it for me when i graduated from high school. i had a lot of firsts with that computer. it was with me through a lot of ups and downs, it was what kept me company through many a sleepless night. it brought me comfort when there was no one else around. it held my deepest darkest secrets. it never let me down, never crashed, never broke. 6 years i had that computer and two days ago i drove it to goodwill and dropped it off. i'll have the hard drive of course, with all the actual information, but the computer as an entity had personified itself into my companion. and i depended on it for so much, for so long. it was an emotional moment when i had to walk away and leave it there alone. |
