2004-07-16 - 5:53 p.m. - "it's all who you know" if it was me, and i walked into the production office to check in my shitty little band that no one had ever heard of before, and i was only getting booked because my dad's business partner's uncle was friends with the owner of one of the sponsorship companies, and i wasnt even on the grid but everyone in the office was like "um, do you know who they are? theyre so and so's friend's nephew's kid's band. they HAVE to play." -- i would be totally embarrassed. because i would know that it wasnt because of my talent, work ethic, effort, dedication and musical ability that i got the gig, but rather that it was a handful of shady favors through questionable connections. the saddest part is that most of the bands in the world are doing the things they are doing via this very path. and they dont even feel bad about it. |
